The post World War Two Democrats have been exceedingly disdainful of the United States Military. Yet, this impostor in chief that we have now did give what appeared to be a moving, and thoughtful dissertation with regards to a war that is in all of our faces. Yet appears to be among his greatest failures.

Was all this real? Or, yet again, simply politics.

Simply based upon my childhood background I was exposed to several Men that had earned the Medal of Honor. Merry, who sometimes deems it worthy to post here had one such man living next to her as she grew up. I myself had three such extraordinary people involved in my daily life. Such is the life of a Marine Corps brat…

Let me tell you something about such Men. They never brag, and in fact, attribute any thing that they may have done to a love for their fellows. They are, one and all, unassuming. They simply believe that they did what they did because it had to be done. To quote one Man, “Nobody else could fight, so I had too.”

The BHO, I think, is simply capitalizing on what happened.

Where as; People such as Myself, Merry, Maine, Fred, and so many others? Simply hold such Men in the highest level of respect, honor, and as templates for those that will follow. Audie Murphy would be proud of what this very young man did. Gads, a Special Forces Team Member at that age..? He had to be good! Back in the day? It took a few more years, rank notwithstanding, to make it onto an A-Team. This young Man, was an American Warrior, the real deal.

Gads… I simply do not trust this man…

my dance marathon committee chair last year would have us send him “bullet points” every week of our progress with getting donations for the marathon as well as high points and low points of our weeks. so, without further adieu, the highs and lows of my life as of late…ready, set, go!

lows: i’m busy beyond words. being busy leads to exhaustion. i miss my brother. i have split ends. i’m not motivated to do readings for early childhood development. my fall clothes aren’t with me at unc. long dance marathon meetings. getting up at 6am on tuesdays. tami never calling me back about working with mcdougle elementary. lots of stuff to do for next week’s classes.

highs (always save the best for last, right?): i was told i had perfect teeth yesterday (needless to say this made me smile perpetually, i swear i wasn’t trying to show off my teeth). great day at morris grove elementary per usual. the brownies katie made for our dm meeting last night. mom coming friday. volunteering at the pediatric playroom tomorrow night for dm. baking cookies tomorrow (i think). flirting with the cute new office assistant. john mayer. singing while delivering mail.

glad to get that off my chest! also world, i’ll have you know that i think i plan on sticking it out with spanish as my educational focus/minor. sorry social studies, as much as i love you, i think spanish is what i’m being called to do. granted, i still don’t plan on making any decisions until later this semester, but i do think spanish is where i’m supposed to be. thinking about studying abroad and looking at some of the programs, i just feel drawn to a spanish-speaking country. the summer in sevilla program unc does looks so awesome, i just might need to apply for it and see what happens.

So much for these wonderful ideas to do over the school holidays. I was laid up in bed sick with bronchitus for over a week which is no fun – I am so thankful for friends who were able to take the boys and they had great days out. That is life isn’t it – you just don’t know what is around the corner, but one thing I do know is that we don’t have to face the unknown ahead of us alone. With God and friends it certainly makes the journey not so lonesome.

Over the past weeks I have been reading an autobiographical book by Louis L’amour, “Education of a Wandering Man”. What an inspirational, challenging book about this very interesting, knowledgable and ‘pro-active’ man.     Louis L’amour is a very well known American frontier/western writer and this book is written at the end of his life about how he self-educated himself and the amazing experiences he had in his life. I love the description written in the inside flap “a personal reflection on his lifelong love affair with learning“.

Below are some quotes that I’ve written down from the book.

“Education should provide the tools for a widening and deepening of life, for increased appreciation of all one sees or experiences. It should equip a person to live life well, to understand what is happening about him, for to live life well one must live with awareness.” Pg 3

“No one can “get” an education, for of necessity education is a continuing process.  If it does nothing else, it should provide students with the tools for learning, acquaint them with methods of study and research, methods of pursuing an idea. We can only hope they come upon an idea they wish to pursue.” Pg 3

“Historical novels are, without question, the best way of teaching history, for they offer the human stories behind the events and leave the reader with a desire to know more. Due to such books, and later reading, I found that no matter what country I visited or whom I met, I knew something of the history or romance of the country, or about a person’s homeland.” Pg 7
